The Pantler story

The story of Pantler began in 2014, when founders Matthias Phua and Japanese pastry chef Tomoharu Morita saw a gap in the Singapore market for high-quality, handcrafted Japanese-French pastries.

The patisserie on Telok Ayer Street quickly became known for consistency, culinary excellence, and refined execution. In 2021, the business moved to a larger space along River Valley Road, bringing along its unwavering commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

Over the years, Pantler has been a cherished part of countless celebrations – from birthdays to weddings and anniversaries – and also a comforting neighbourhood destination to slow down with a cup of coffee and a slice of cake.

However, the landscape of independent, artisanal F&B is undeniably unforgiving. Facing headwinds and mounting operational pressures common to the industry, Pantler announced in August 2026 that it would serve its final bakes that month.

The response from the community was overwhelming. As queues formed daily outside the shop, it was clear that Pantler’s impending absence would be deeply felt – a 12-year legacy that deserved more than this abrupt ending.

This is where our next chapter begins. As of October 2026, Pantler transitioned under new stewardship, with a clear vision to protect independent, small-batch craftsmanship while modernizing operations to ensure long-term sustainability.

Pantler is more than just a patisserie; it is a testament to what happens when artisanal soul meets modern resilience. We are thrilled to keep our doors open, our ovens warm, and our pastry cases full. Welcome back to Pantler: the story continues.
